6:40am Final check in time for the TranzCoastal:
Addington Railway Station, Troup Drive. On arrival at the station, please report to the front counter to receive your seat number/s. Then, make your way to the luggage van which will be outside the main doors and to your left of the platform. |
7:00am The TranzCoastal departs Christchurch:
Cross the rolling farmland of the North Canterbury plains through Amberley and Cheviot. This journey is a scenic feast, with the Kaikoura mountain ranges on one side of your train and the rugged Pacific Ocean coastline on the other. |
9:54am Arrive into Kaikoura |
10:30am Taxi Transfer:
You will be transferred by Kaikoura Taxis to your hotel where one night’s room only accommodation has been reserved for you at Lobster Inn Motor Lodge, 115 Beach Road Kaikoura. After checking into your accommodation and taking a breath of that breathtaking sea air, you have a completely free afternoon of leisure to see the sights of Kaikoura. |

Your luggage can be stored at Kaikoura Whalewatch/Railway Station until your departure to Christchurch this afternoon |
9:10am Taxi Transfer:
Kaikoura Taxis will be waiting at your hotel to transfer you to Kaikoura Whalewatch at the Whaleway Station. |
9:30am Please report to Kaikoura Whale Watch:
You are ready to embark on a truly exciting adventure. Although contact with whales at close range is the highlight, each trip has a wider appeal as you will also encounter a wide range of sea life. You will cruise past colonies of New Zealand fur seals to observe them at close quarters in their natural habitat. In addition, you will see the world’s rarest dolphin, the tiny Hector Dolphin. The more common Dusky Dolphin can be seen during the summer months. In addition to our marine mammals, Kaikoura has a wide variety of off shore birds. These include the Royal and Wandering Albatross, Shearwaters and Petrels. We wish you a happy encounter. |

6:21pm The TranzCoastal arrives back into Christchurch
Please collect your luggage from the TranzCoastal luggage van and head out through the main doors of the station where taxis or shuttles are available. Your Tranz Scenic Great Train Escape Package concludes. We hope you had a fantastic time! |
