6:40am Final check in time for the TranzCoastal:
Located at Addington Railway Station, Troup Drive. On arrival at the station please report to the front counter to receive your seat number/s. Then make your way to the luggage van which will be outside the main doors and to your left of the platform. |
7:00am The TranzCoastal departs Christchurch:
Cross the rolling farmland of the North Canterbury plains through Amberley and Cheviot. This journey is a scenic feast, with the Kaikoura mountain ranges on one side of your train and the rugged Pacific Ocean coastline on the other. |
9:54am Arrive into Kaikoura:
Please report to Kaikoura Whale Watch. There is luggage Lockers there for you to store your luggage while you are on your adventure. This is a truly exciting adventure. Although contact with whales at close range is the highlight, each trip has a wider appeal as you will also encounter a wide range of sea life. You will cruise past colonies of New Zealand fur seats to observe them at close quarters in their natural habitat. In addition you will see the world’s rarest dolphin, the tiny Hector Dolphin. The more common Dusky Dolphin can be seen during the summer months. In addition to our marine mammals, Kaikoura has a wide variety of birds. |

These birds include the Royal and Wandering, Albatross, Shearwaters and Petrels. We wish you a happy adventure. On arrival back to Kaikoura Whale Watch you will be transferred by Kaikoura Taxis to your accommodation where one night’s accommodation has been reserved for you: White Morph Motor Inn 92 Esplanade Kaikoura After checking into your accommodation and taking a breath of that breathtaking sea air, you have a completely free afternoon of leisure to see the sights of Kaikoura. |

9:15am Please check out of your room:
wait at reception where you will be transferred by Kaikoura Taxi’s from your Hotel to Kaikoura Railway Station.

9:45am Make your way out onto the platform:
Meet the TranzCoastal Train Manager who will give you seat numbers and place your luggage onto the luggage van, tell them your destination is Wellington and they will check your bags right through for you. |
9:54am Depart Kaikoura on The TranzCoastal. |
12:45pm ferry trip:
Please check-in at the Interlslander for your ferry trip across Cook Strait. |
1:15pm Depart Picton for Wellington: |
4:15pm Arrive Wellington:
