Western Maryland Scenic Railroad

Travel back through time aboard our restored diesel locomotive on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. You’ll climb through the Allegheny Mountains on the Western Maryland #501, a GP30 built in the 1960’s, easily recognizable due to its high profile and stepped cab roof, unique among American locomotives. A narrator will be on-board to provide you with interesting historical facts and significant cultural locations along the route to Mountain View.

Regular Scenic Excursions depart at 11:30 AM from the Western Maryland Station in Cumberland, Maryland. The train returns to the Station at approximately 2 pm. You can choose between four classes of service, ranging from Coach to First Class with a freshly prepared lunch aboard the train.
